Who are they for?

Compression stockings are for athletes, for anyone who suffers from swelling, travels frequently by airplane, has varicose veins, diabetes, or any venous insufficiency.

What are compression stockings?

They are medically graded socks and hosiery. They are designed to apply the most pressure/compression around the ankles, easing in pressure higher up the leg.

Why?

The purpose is to help blood return back up to the heart and not pool in the legs. If you travel a lot it is meant to move blood in the legs to prevent blood clots (DVT deep vein thrombosis) from developing, which can be medically very dangerous. If a blood clot were to form and become loose, it could travel up and get caught in the lungs, which can cause death. Compression stockings are helpful for people with diabetes, because of problems with poor circulation. Athletes and active individuals use compression stocking for improving circulation, performance and recovery.

What do you need?

A medical prescription from your doctor indicating compression stockings 20-30mmHg. Then you have to call to book for a compression stocking fitting. Once we have you fitted, you pay for the stockings and we provide the invoice that you will submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
